Help Children In Need This Christmas

Dear Friends,

Imagine a child spending the Holidays without their mother or father; now imagine a child spending the Holidays without gifts. At Families United, we are all too familiar with the absence of a loved one, but recognize that it’s part of being a military family. We also recognize that service is a family affair and we can do something to help those in need. With the holidays around the corner, Families United is once again raising money for Toys for Tots.

Help a Gold Star Family Honor Their Fallen Hero

Dear Friend,

This week, 8 years ago, terrorists tried to destroy the American way of life. Little did they realize that the strength of the American spirit and the courage of our military would take the fight to them in Iraq and Afghanistan. And each one of those Fallen Heroes has a family that has served and sacrificed as well.

Our veterans are our nation's heroes and it is because of the work that they did for this country that we are living in the country of the free and the brave.

Families United July 4th Newsletter

This Saturday, Americans will celebrate the 233rd anniversary of one of the most revolutionary documents of all time. Proposed by Richard Henry Lee and written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, The Declaration of Independence is the birth certificate of the United States. When our Founding Fathers from the original thirteen colonies dissolved their relationship with Great Britain to become a free and independent country, they gave us the greatest birthday present possible—liberty.
The Fourth of July is a day of picnics and parades, barbeques and fireworks. But as we celebrate this day with loved ones and reflect on the history of our great nation, we remember that the freedoms we all enjoy are not free. Thomas Jefferson once said, "the price of Liberty is eternal vigilance." The words of Jefferson are as true today as they ever were.

Families United June Newsletter

Yesterday, we celebrated the adoption of the United States’ flag as our national symbol of freedom. At Families United, we understand the importance of our flag and are working every day to honor the men and women who bravely fight to protect the freedoms and principles that it represents.
On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted a resolution establishing our national flag, and June 14 was officially designated as a national holiday in 1949 through an Act of Congress. Though there have been many versions of the American Flag through the years, its symbolism is ever-present.
