Deanna Shields
Kileen, Texas
Sgt. Jonathan Shields, 25, left, was a five-year veteran of the Army who had been deployed to Kuwait twice and finally to Iraq on a third deployment. His final mission included helping to take over Camp Fallujah. During that mission, the Army lost 137 men.
Deanna Shields, Jonathan’s wife, says, “My husband never had anything negative to say about his job. He never wanted to come home, except to see his family. He was always okay with going back. He would always comment on how many lives had been lost, and he wondered how you could not go back and finish what was started.” Jonathan died on November 12, 2004.
