Army Specialist Aaron Sissel, 22, a military cargo driver, was killed November 29, 2003 when his U.S. Army convoy was attacked by rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire near Hadithah, Iraq. Sissel joined the National Guard in the fall of his senior year of high school and “die[d] doing what loved to do,” according to his mother, Jo Sissel. He was posthumously awarded the rank of Sergeant.

- Jo and Kirk Sissel are divorced, but they got together in her dining room on Wednesday night for a friendly beer. "I don't care if they found two guns and nothing else, I think Bush did the right thing," Aaron's father said.
Jo Sissel, 46, recalled sitting at the same table with her son four years ago, unhappy that Bush had won. But her son felt the other way, strongly, and that's good enough for his mother. "I think Bush has a mission to complete," she said. St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 10/29/04
