Randy Johnson is the brother of Army National Guard Sergeant David Johnson who fell in Baghdad, Iraq on September 25, 2004 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle. Sgt. David Johnson was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment, Cottage Grove, Oregon. He served in the late 1980s, and then volunteered again in 2003. He went to Iraq in March 2004. |

- What [Randy Johnson] saw in some of the last photographs taken of [David] Johnson in Iraq -- his baptism by an Episcopal priest, and his baptism by fire as a machine gunner providing safety for supply transports -- was a man "dignified and true."
